Teign School celebrate GCSE results
22nd August 2024Students from Teign School in Newton Abbot have been picking up their GCSE exam results this morning (22nd August.) They sat their exams back in May and June and have been waiting for their results ever since along with young people up and down the country.
As a year group that started their school journey amidst lockdowns, bubbles and closures they have had much to deal with. They have dealt with the situation stoically and with resilience.
Teign School wanted to offer their congratulations to all of their Year 11 cohort for their fantastic GCSE results. Once again, Teign School students demonstrated excellent performance for their GCSEs. Students have risen to any challenges they have faced and showed the resolve, resilience, perseverance and hard work to achieve the grades they have been awarded.
Maya Fairs has devoted an immense amount of personal time to her studies as well as fully engaging in our extra-curricular offer. Her determination and motivation has led to a superb set of results, achieving 8 grade 9s and a grade 8. Alongside Maya, George Farrell also received outstanding results reflecting his immense effort and dedication, with 3 grade 9s, 5 8s and a 6.
Charlie Churchill has been hugely successful in his extra-curricular activities and work in performing arts, balancing this with his academic studies is hugely commendable. Likewise, Tomas Powell achieved a great set of results alongside his dedication in Music.
Ramim Abdul and Ollie Coote both demonstrated commitment to the end and showed great improvement along their GCSE journey, achieving 7 or more grades 4-7.
Lucie Wagner, Head of School at Teign School said:
“We are delighted with these results, which reflect the incredible hard work of the pupils, the support of their parents and carers, and, of course, some really excellent teaching from our staff. Teachers have used their professionalism and wealth of experience to support our students to achieve outcomes that we have no doubt will one day lead them to the best Universities and career destinations.
It is wonderful to see the continuing positive impact of the raised standards at Teign School and how this is supporting the young people within the community. Along with the excellent A’ level results earlier this month, these results represent another step up on our journey to be outstanding and confirms Teign School as a place where children fulfil their potential both academically and through the acquisition of attributes that will allow them to go on to lead extraordinary lives. I want to thank our Year 11 students, who are such a great group of young people, for their determination and resilience.”
Matthew Shanks, CEO of Education South West said:
