Student Leadership
Student leadership and student voice and Teign School
Involvement in leadership and voice activities can improve students’ learning as well as helping them to develop the skills and traits needed for success outside of the classroom. – SSAT
At Teign we are delighted to have a vast range of student leadership and student voice opportunities available to all students. Recruitment week takes place each September and following assemblies and tutorials students from all years can sign up to participate in many leadership groups.
Students take great pride in belonging to a leadership group and we have many lapel badges to acknowledge their positions and raise the profile of leadership at Teign.
Through these leadership opportunities students gain transferable skills which will help them to be successful in school and in the wider world, skills include:
- Team work
- Time management
- Communication
- Responsibility
- Organisation
Examples of Leadership roles at Teign School
Subject ambassadors take a leading role at open evening and support different departments during the year with homework clubs, extracurricular clubs and new staff interviews. They are all enthusiastic about the subject they represent and are fantastic role models.

At Teign we have a well-established team of fully trained Student Librarians. These incredible students assist in most aspects of the running of our school library and will now train up the new library apprentices in all the skills needed to keep the library functioning.
Anti-bullying ambassadors: this super team of students have organised many whole school events including anti- bullying week and show racism the red card day.
