Exeter and East Devon ENTHUSE Partnership Launch
2nd December 2021Teign School, together with Coombeshead Academy, Colyton Grammar School, Clyst Vale Community College, St Peters C of E Aided School and Westexe School are proud to announce that they have been successful in becoming an ENTHUSE Partnership. As an ENTHUSE Partnership they will gain access to £20,000 worth of support over the next two years to help raise the profile of STEM-related careers and employment pathways in their schools/colleges.
This partnership is part-funded by Howmet Aerospace based at Sowton, Exeter who are a global leader in engineered metal products. As part of their efforts to educate and inspire tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and technical experts they are excited to support programs such as ENTHUSE Partnerships and build closer links with local schools.
The ENTHUSE Partnership follows on from Howmet’s involvement in the Robotics Challenge with Tomorrow’s Engineers, which worked with local schools and focussed directly on the young people attending school. This time Howmet is keen to focus on the teachers and education givers within the schools, ensuring continued exposure for both student and teacher to STEM related subjects and careers.
ENTHUSE Partnerships bring schools and colleges together to work collaboratively and are designed to inspire young people into STEM subjects and STEM-related careers. The partnerships have significant benefits for teachers, young people and employers - transforming both the educational culture around STEM in schools and young people’s achievement and aspirations. Schools and colleges taking part receive access to continued professional development, leading educational resources, STEM Ambassadors and teacher placements. With links to local businesses and industry, our learners gain a greater understanding of the STEM industry and the possible career paths.
Headteacher of Teign School, Suzannah Wharf said ‘We are delighted to be able to be part of this important partnership which will provide students and staff with fantastic opportunities to get involved with science and engineering and give access to important local employers such as Howmet. ENTHUSE partnerships are all about inspiring and encouraging young people to continue with STEM subjects and careers.'
