Teign School comes second at national award for outstanding secondary practice in PE
21st March 2024Wow! Heading back down country on cloud 9! What an exciting & inspirational couple of days it’s been at the Youth Sport Trust #YouthSportTrust up in Telford
You may not be aware but the PE department were nominated for a national award for outstanding secondary practice in PE. As a result we headed up to Telford for last nights awards ceremony & are so excited to announce that we came in the top 2
We are so proud of this achievement. As a team the PE staff are immensely selfless & sacrifice an incredible amount of their own time. They ensure they do their absolute best to give our students all of the opportunities possible & really work to instil futures for our young people that are embedded in health, physical activity & happiness. None of this would be possible without a supportive senior team who truly value what we do & the positive impact that physical activity brings to our students.
We then attended the conference today, eager to build on provision further. We listened to workshops led by people at the top of the PE profession & we’re fortunate enough to have listened to incredible speakers. Ken E. Nwadike, Jr. in particular was insanely brilliant & inspired us to really come home & promote the message of love & belonging. We networked with some wonderful colleagues & entered competitions to try & secure further resources for the fantastic Teign community. Mr Storry even stayed at the top of the leader board for Max Whitlock Max Whitlock Gymnastics challenge & also nearly won us a new table tennis table!
In all honesty, we feel tremendously grateful for the recognition & the opportunity to get inspired even further today to return to school & be the best PE teachers we can possibly be.
Love your PE department
